Lesson Schedule

Unfortunately, Willow Creek Ranch has an extensive waiting list for our Horsemanship program and has suspended taking on any additional names. There are other therapeutic riding centers in southeast Wisconsin that you may want to check out. You can find a list of other centers who are members of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International through their website pathintl.org.

Welcome Letter

Willow Creek Ranch provides Equine Assisted Services including Therapy, Learning and Horsemanship Programs.

Horsemanship Program Lessons are usually comprised of exercises, learning a skill and practicing skills. A typical lesson is 45 therapeutic minutes. Therapeutic minutes are defined as interaction time that serves the purpose of improving the learning and growth of a participant. Each activity, including time not actually mounted on the horse, has a purpose. Waiting for a turn, walking with a horse, feeding a snack, grooming, all serve to support a rider’s learning.

Learning Program Sessions are created to support education (may align with a school IEP), personal development, communication/social interactions and similar assistance for growth and learning. Personal growth and healing sessions may be offered through other WCR staff or volunteers to accommodate retreats or groups interested in self reflection and awareness, life skills, connecting to nature, or personal discovery.

Therapy Program Sessions are held with a licensed mental health professional and an equine specialist and can include a certified therapeutic riding instructor and trained volunteer. Equine assisted services using our Therapy program can provide individual, family, group or teams a way to build relationships, find solutions, communicate and discover their strengths. These psychotherapy, counseling and personal growth sessions are tailored to fit the individual needs of each participant or group. Our professional team is experienced with helping participants who are dealing with depression, substance abuse, trauma, PTSD, coping skills, relationship issues and many other concerns of everyday life. These sessions may vary in length and includes psychotherapy or counseling.
