Rusty came to Willow Creek Ranch in July 2019 underweight and with some health concerns. While little is known about his past, he may have been a 4H project and trail horse who ended up at an auction. Rusty’s journey to WCR began when he greeted a man at the fence of a holding pen—luckily leading him to a new, safe home rather than an uncertain fate.

Months of special care and feeding helped Rusty become a healthy, happy horse with a playful personality. He has brought joy and laughter to WCR—sometimes in unexpected ways, like walking into the community room to look out the window! Rusty is now retired and a beloved member of the learning and therapy programs, and he has become a favorite friend to participants and volunteers alike.
